observation
This is an AR project I collaborated with Chengchao Zhu. Viewers use the scanner (black camera with a handle on the right bottom corner) to scan the receipts on the table. When they scan the receipt, they can hear an audio story about the object a person bought and a relevant life moment about this object. I noticed that the design of how to use the scanner really matters. We made the camera like a scanner because we try to mimic the experience of scanning products in supermarket.
Issues:
Many people asked me if there is a button they need to press.
They also tend to scan the receipt very close, but the AR needs a bit distance to recognize the image target.
The AR requires users to hold the scanner as the audio continues, but it is unnatural for users to hold it a long time over the receipt.
